If you're lucky enough to receive perfume, or you purchase for yourself, you know that most come in beautiful bottles. Once the perfume is gone, it's a shame to just toss the bottle away, but they're so small. How can you possibly reuse them? Well, I'll show you what I did to repurpose some of those classy bottles that were given to me.
I started with transforming the small bottles into holiday ornaments that can be used to adorn a tree, a wreath, garland, or on a wrapped holiday gift for that over-the-top glamour. I used all sorts of fun embellishments such as: metallic paints, colored glitter glues, loose glitter, rhinestones, crystals, shiny beads, tinsel, ribbon, colored wires, etc. Talk about going from simple pieces of glass to sensational sirens!
As for the larger bottles, I felt they were a little too heavy to modify into ornaments. So, I thought 'why not refashion them into diffusers'? They originally held perfume to scent the body, now they could hold scented oils to scent the home. Such a bonus switch! The best part is that once the oil is soaked up by the reeds and no longer producing a fragrance, it can be cleaned out and reused again. Please note that the reeds cannot be reused, but you can purchase them relatively cheap. I found a package of ten (10) for 99 cents at a local home store.
On these diffusers below, I used silver metallic paint, leftover gold leafing, and rhinestones.
So, here you go! This is a relatively easy project and a fantastic way to use up arts and craft supplies that you most likely already have on hand. Give these as gifts with a note saying, "Smell you later" or "smell you around!" Silly, I know, but you smiled. đ
Iâll be back next Wednesday to show you what Iâve been working on. Hope youâll stop by again for a visit.
